Wisdom is a requirement and a necessity for every child of God. All along we have been taught that Solomon asked for wisdom from God. However through searching the scriptures the Holy Spirit made me to realize that there's no place in the bible, in Kings, where Solomon asked for wisdom.
In actual fact; Solomon said if you can give thy servant 1. An understanding heart. 2. The ability to discern between good and bad. And then what was given to him was wisdom in accordance to 1 Kings 3:9.
You see, Solomon didn't want to ask for wisdom. He had an ability to understand what wisdom could do. Solomon was a detailed man and well informed man which is why he jumped to request what wisdom can do. Basically, wisdom is an understanding of the heart and the ability to know the difference.
He was not interested in describing it as wisdom. Solomon proved to God that if I was going to get wisdom, it had to be accompanied by an understanding heart and the ability to discern.
Solomon was good at describing the function of wisdom. When you cannot understand, it is a sign that you lack of wisdom. When you begin to understand, that signifies a function of wisdom.
1 Kings 3:9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
